One of the most exciting times in a woman’s life is pregnancy and early motherhood, can bring with it a whole new world maternity rights, childcare, nursery equipment and much more.

It doesn’t have to be intimidating though and there are a number of special provisions made by the government as well as a wonderful range of activities and outlets to help give the child the best start in life.

Beginning with maternity rights the UK law gives special protection to pregnant women at work and they could also be entitled to paid time off for antenatal care, maternity leave of at least 26 weeks (52 weeks if he baby is due on or after April 1, 2007), maternity pay benefits and also protection against unfair dismissal.

Maternity pay assistance could also be available for those who are unemployed or self-employed and there are a number of other benefits parents could be entitled to including child trust funds, Sure Start, maternity grants, child benefit, tax credit and free prescriptions and dental treatment.

Early Education

Education is another vital part of your child’s early years and whether you choose a child minder, nursery, crèche or children’s centre to look after your bundle of joy, be sure to explore the options available to you to make sure you give the child the best start in education.

Both children and babies require a great deal of the equipment during the first few years of their life, ranging from toys, bedroom furniture, clothes, playpens and baby monitor to name but a you, there is much to be bought.

One other essential purchase for your little one is a pushchair of pram. Not only does it enable your child to experience new things in a safe environment, but it also provides greater freedom for parents.

There are lots of fun activities for new mothers and toddlers to indulge in nowadays such as local toddler groups, parks, farms and cinema screenings for mothers and babies. You can also find out about swimming lessons at your local leisure pool too and really make a splash for you and you are new baby.
